Every person involved with Shan'z Child Care is First Aid & CPR trained.
Growing up with two younger brothers and countless cousins to watch over, I have known from a very early age that working with children would be my life long adventure.
In 2008, I was recruited by a Canadian family to work as a nanny in their private home, here in Calgary. Shortly after arriving in Calgary, I wrote and passed my Alberta GED courses, and went on to complete the Alberta Health Care Aide course. After started working in that field I then realized it as not my passion and went back to school and has now completed my Early Learning and Child Care Professional studies.
I have volunteered at a Montessori preschool and also a day care center while working for private families taking care of infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
Working with such amazing children, I decided that I wanted to start my own day home based on the values of love, safety, a sense of belonging and independence.
Children are curious about the world and giving them the opportunity to explore in a safe and loving environment will enhance their beauty, growth and development.
Verona is the mother of 4 grown children. She spent 17 years working in sales and marketing before being granted a scholarship thru her church to complete a practical nursing course.
Verona spent the next 7 years working in a hospital emergency department before being transferred to the pediatric ward. It was during this time in the pediatric ward that Verona's passion for helping children grew immensely.
Given the opportunity in 2012 to immigrate to Canada to work with children as a private nanny, Verona hasn't looked back.
Verona's belief is that children are the future and that we must setup a caring, loving, and safe environment to build a strong foundation to allow them to grow and excel to their individual potentials.
